CSULA Twilight Open Results
LOS ANGELES (UNLVRebels.com - The UNLV track & field team sent a small contingent of its squad to Cal State Los Angeles' Twilight Open on April 19 at Jesse Owens Track and North Field. UNLV got first-place showing from Danielle Rios in the hammer throw and Larissa Davis in the 3000m steeplechase, while volunteer coach Lara Saye-Crutchley took the top spot in the discus.
Rios' throw of 191-4 (58.32) was a personal-best for the senior, and the toss ranks as the third on UNLV's outdoor performance list in the hammer throw. Her toss was only one foot short (192-04 / 58.62m) of the winning distance recorded in the men's hammer throw that evening.
Rios was joined by Myshauna Alexander and Adrianna Oliva, who also threw personal bests in the event. Alexander registered a distance of 147-11 (45.09m), while Oliva topped out at 137-11 (42.04m).
Besides the hammer, Alexander and Oliva participated in at least two events apiece. The former competed in the discus, and threw it 128-4 (39.12m). Olive, on the other hand, appeared in the discus (111-2 / 33.88m) and the shot put (43-2.25 / 13.16m).
Joining Alexander and Oliva in the discus was Saye-Crutchley, who tossed a meet-best 164-10 (50.25m). Saye-Crutchley was an NCAA All-American at UCLA in 2002.
Davis won the steeplechase in 11:41.69, which was her best time recorded since coming to UNLV.
Others that competed in the Twilight Open were Lindsay Roach in the 400m (58.06); Corey Honeycutt in the 800m (2:18.97); Amanda Berg in the 5000m (19:01.09) and Taylar Mills in both the 100m hurdles (14.87) and the triple jump (36-0 / 10.97m).
