SAN DIEGO (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV cross country team ran to a sixth-place finish in the 68th Aztec Invitational hosted at Balboa Park in San Diego on Saturday. The Rebels were led by Laura Petersen, who placed 14th with a 5K time of 19:31.3.

Corey Honeycutt was the second Rebel to cross the finish line (29th overall) in 20:11.2, while Auzsane Crowe-Carter followed closely behind in 20:21.2 (31st overall). Katie Cochran (43rd, 20:57.9), Courtney Allen (44th, 21:00.3), Amanda Berg (46th, 21:01.6), Laura Affeld (48th, 21:10.2) and Sara Williams (55th, 21:52.3) rounded out the Rebel contingent that ran in America's Finest City.

USC won the event with a team score of 39. Biola University was second with 47 points, which were just enough to edge out the host San Diego State's 50 points and third-place finish. Cal State Northridge (fourth, 112 points), San Jose State (fifth, 140), UNLV (sixth, 145) and San Diego State "B" (seventh, 191) rounded out the list of finishers.

The Rebels return to action on Sept. 29 with its own UNLV Desert Invitational held at Veteran's Memorial Park in nearby Boulder City.
