LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV Women's Tennis Fall Invitational opened on a hot September Friday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex with a round each of singles and doubles.

Junior standout Lucia Batta, ranked 43rd in the nation, won her season-opening match 6-2, 6-4 over Hannah Stone of Northern Arizona. Fellow-junior Aleksandra Josifoska, ranked 89th, also advanced with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Emily Newton from South Alabama in the top flight.

In Flight Two, senior Nives Pavlovic downed Mary Angela Martin of South Alabama 6-2, 6-2 and newcomer Janine Erasmus got by Ebba Unden of Long Beach State 7-5, 4-6, 6-2.

In Flight Three, Lady Rebel freshman Iren Kotseva downed Malia Wahinepio while senior Ella Bourchier won an added match, 6-0, 7-5, over Anne-Sophie Willems of LBSU.

In doubles, the 23rd-ranked duo of Josifoska and Pavlovic defeated Sarah Cantlay and Eva Rodriguez of LBSU 8-4 while in the second flight, Kotseva and Alexis Garrett teamed up for an 8-2 win over Ghizelene Doballah and Wahinepio of NAU.

The tournament will feature one round of singles and doubles both of the next two days with matches beginning at 10 a.m. Admission is free of charge.
