Rebel Netters Playing On Tulsa Time

TULSA, Okla. (UNLVRebels.com) - Five players took part in the prequalifying draw at the first day of the 2012 ITA Men's All-American Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on Saturday.

Willie Sublette won his first round match, 6-0, 6-3, over Nathaniel Avery of hometown Oral Roberts but then fell 7-5, 6-3 to James McKie of Drake. Johannes Markel advanced by walk-over Nick Jones of South Carolina and then was scheduled to play his second-rounder late Saturday night indoors after a rain delay.

In the first round, Ace Matias fell in three sets to Andre Vidaller of Arizona, 2-6, 6-4, 7-5; Bernard Schoeman lost 6-3, 6-2 to Kevin Matka of Ohio State; and, after enjoying a bye, Charlie Alvarado fell in the second round to Joe Salisbury of Memphis, 7-5, 6-3.

A sixth UNLV player, Tamas Batyi, will take part in the qualifying draw starting Monday while a trio of Rebels - Schoeman, Matias and Alvarado -- will try their luck in the consolation draw Sunday.
