Rebels Head To The Pacific Northwest

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV track & field team, who is coming off a strong opening weekend to the 2013 indoor season at the NAU Invitational, will head to the Pacific Northwest to participate in the University of Washington's UW Invitational this Friday and Saturday. The two-day event will be contested at the Dempsey Indoor in Seattle, and it welcomes the likes of BYU, Colorado State Gonzaga, Hawai'i, Nevada-Reno and several Pac-12 schools - Washington, Oregon, California, Stanford, UCLA, Oregon State and Colorado.

Friday's action begins at 1:00 pm on the track with the 60m portion of the men's heptathlon. The field events are also kick started by a men's heptathlon event - the long jump - at 1:45 pm. The Scarlet & Gray opens up its portion of competition with the women's 200m at 4:30 pm. Six Rebels are entered in the event that, as of now, has 70 individuals competing in 14 different heats.

Las weekend, the Rebels recorded 10 top-three finishes in Flagstaff, Ariz. UNLV was were led by victories in the 200m (Emily Blok), 400m (Kelsey Williamson) and 60m hurdles (Erin Morris). Both Blok and Williamson were part of two second-place showings with the former in the 60m and the latter in the 400m relay.

Adrianna Oliva and Ayana Gales both finished second in their respective events, the shot put and the long jump.
