SEATTLE (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV track & field's Emily Blok claimed her second consecutive first-place finish in the 200m dash with Friday's victory at the UW Invitational in Seattle. Blok ran a time of 24.29 in the final heat to defeat 58 other competitors on the opening night at the two-day meet hosted by the University of Washington at the Dempsey Indoor.
Blok was not the only Rebel to compete in the 200m, as she was joined by Erin Morris (27th/25.71), Secoral Yanez (28th/25.72), Uchechi Anunkor (29th/25.80) and Ashley Franklin (36th/26.07).
UNLV's distance medley relay team - Laura Affeld, Monay Meggs, Kelsey Williamson and Corey Honeycutt - also took the track Friday night and finished 13th overall with a time of 12:07.37 out of 21 entrants.
The Scarlet & Gray return to the Dempsey Indoor for the second day of competition on Saturday. The Rebels open up with the 3000m run at 8:55 on the track before the weight throw kicks off the field events five minutes later.
Amanda Bingson, a former Rebel and 2012 US Olympian, made headlines at the Howie Ryan Invitational in Houston on Friday with a meet record in the weight throw. Bingson registered a measurement of 67-11 (20.70m) to finish first overall at the meet hosted by the University of Houston.
