SEATTLE (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV track & field team closed out its stay at the UW Invitational in Seattle with a quintet of top-six finishes on Saturday. Kelsey Williamson led the squad with a second-place showing in the 800m (2:09.17) before she anchored the 4x400m relay to fifth (3:47.21) at the Dempsey Indoor.
Williamson was joined on the relay squad by Secoral Yanez, Emily Blok and Monay Meggs. The quartet's time Saturday was nearly five seconds faster than the one posted last week in Flagstaff, Ariz., at the NAU Invitational (3:52.00). Williamson, Yanez and Meggs were holdovers from last week's crew, while Blok was a new addition following her first-place finish in the 200m on Friday night in Seattle.
Individually, two of the relay members had strong showings on the track, as well. Meggs finished third overall with a personal-best time of 56.93 in the 400m, while Yanez clocked a 57.47 in the 400m Invitational. Yanez's time was good enough for sixth place.
Erin Morris rounded out the five top-six finishes with her time of 8.74 (sixth place) posted in the 60m hurdles.
Seven different Rebels posted personal bests on the day, and they were: Ashley Franklin (60m, 7.80), Miranda Menzies (800m, 2:21.17), Courtney Allen (800m, 2:21.52), Corey Honeycutt (Mile, 5:02.52), Auzsane Crowe-Carter (Mile, 5:09.56), Taylar Mills (Shot Put, 36-9/11.20m) and Cortney Miller (Weight Throw, 51-5/15.54m).
Former Rebel Christine Lowe, who was competing for the Coquitlam Cheetahs, won the 400m in a time of 55.95.
UNLV will head back to Flagstaff for the second time this indoor season for NAU's Mountain T's Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 2. The meet will take place at the Walkup Skydome on the campus of NAU.
