Austin, Texas (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's golf team finished in 10th place at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational, which was being played at the par-72, 6,143-yard University of Texas Golf Club. The Rebels finished 15-over-par 879 (291-296-292) after playing the final round on Tuesday. The tournament featured 18 teams and 96 individuals.
Junior Dana Finkelstein turned in her best 54-hole tournament score with an 8-under 208 and tied for second. After never shooting below 70 in 68 rounds of collegiate competition, she shot a career-low 69 in the second round of the tournament and then bested that in the third round by turning in a score of 68.
"This was my best showing at an event thus far in college," Finkelstein said. "The field was extremely good and I am happy to share this success with my team."
Finkelstein tied with UCLA's Bronte Law, four strokes behind the tournament medalist, UCLA's Alison Lee who shot a 12-under 204 (69-68-67).
"Dana played outstanding this week," head coach Amy Bush-Herzer said. "She beat some of the top players in the country and helped our team."
