LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV junior Dana Finkelstein has been selected Mountain West Co-Women's Golfer of the Month for tournaments played in September, the conference office announced earlier today.
"It is a great honor to recieve this award," Finkelstein said. "I played really good golf last month and I look to keep it going this season and help the team reach our goals."
Finkelstein won her first career tournament at the Colonel Bill Wollenberg's Ptarmigan Ram Classic on Sept. 9-10 after carding a 4-under-par 212 (71-70-71) on the par 72, 6,352-yard Ptarmigan Country Club Course in Fort Collins, Colo. Her 70 in the second round of the Ram Classic matcher a career-low for a single round, while her overall score of 21 was the lowest 54-hole total of her career.
She also tied for 18th at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational in Albuquerque, NM on Sept. 20-21. She posted a 4-over 223 (75-77-71) on the par 73, 6,192-yard UNM Championship Course.
After two tournaments this season she owns a 72.50 stroke average. This is the third time in her career she has earned the monthly honor. She also was named the MW Golfer of the Week twice last spring along with being named the MW Golfer of the Year.
Finkelstein shared the honor with San Diego State freshman Sirene Blair.
The Rebels will be back in action October 13-15 at the Betsy Rawls Invitational in Austin, Texas.
