LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV's Denys Pume won his Flight One consolation final to give the hosts a win Sunday at the Larry Easley Memorial Classic being played at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
Pume downed Fabio Tomasetti of NAU, 6-1, 6-4.
In Flight 2, Rebel Willie Sublette lost the title match 6-1, 6-2 to Dante Saleh of Auburn while Jeff Vongman fell to Jordan Gobatie of NAU, 6-3, 6-3, in the consolation bracket.
Auburn's Dan Cochrane took home top singles honors by rallying past Oregon's Kevin Farin, 5-7, 6-3, 6-3, in the Flight One final while his Tiger teammates, Lukas Ollert and Dennis Lengsfeld won the doubles crown with an 8-7 victory over Oregon's Farin and Robin Cambier.
"Overall, it was a solid tournament for us," said UNLV head coach Owen Hambrook. "To have three players competing on Sunday with such a strong field was encouraging."
The Rebels are now off until opening their dual-match schedule on Jan. 31 by hosting New Mexico State.
