Williamson Races To 800m Title In Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV track & field team had two entries in the Don Kirby Elite Invitational on Friday night perform and the pair performed well on the track. Kelsey Williamson won the 800m in a time of 2:06.77, while teammate Emily Blok raced to a second-place finish in the 200m (23.92).

With tonight's time, Williamson moved into second place in UNLV's indoor performance list and surpassed Trena Hull, who registered a time of 2:07.30 in 1987.

A contingent of Rebels will participate in Saturday's Don Kirby Open, which begins at 9:30 am on Saturday with the women's weight throw (Myshauna Alexander). The track portion starts up at 11:30 am with the men's 60m hurdles prelims followed by the women's 60m hurdles prelims (Juliet Summers, Erin Morris, Jordan Hardy and Taylar Mills) 10 minutes later.

This weekend's action is the final tune-up before the Mountain West Indoor Championships are held in Nampa, Idaho on Feb. 21-23.
