LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV track & field program will make its second trip of the 2013 outdoor season to the Lone Star State and the University of Texas' Mike A. Myers Stadium for the NCAA West Preliminary on May 23-25. UNLV, who participated in the Texas Relays in March, qualified seven individuals - Emily Blok, Uchechi Anunkor, Monay Meggs, Auzsane Crowe-Carter, Erin Morris, Taylar Mills and Myshauna Alexander - and its 4x100m relay squad in a total of eight events to the three-day meet in Austin.

In fact, this will be the second straight year that the Scarlet & Gray has made two trips to Central Texas with stops at the Texas Relays and the preliminary. Last year, Amanda Bingson and Brett Zorich advanced out of the preliminary round to the NCAA Championships after both had solid performances in the hammer throw and 800m, respectively.

"We are very happy that we qualified this many people to the NCAA Preliminary round," said head coach Yvonne Wade. "We are increasing our numbers which means we are getting stronger as a team. Our goal is to compete and get some through to the finals. I believe we have a good shot of sending some Rebels to Eugene, Ore., in two weeks."

Every Rebel making the trip to Austin next weekend will have already competed at Myers Stadium this season although a couple will be participating in different events.

A trio of track athletes will run in three events. Both Blok and Anunkor will run in the 100m and 200m, while each will also run a leg of the 4x100m relay. Monay Meggs, who is also a relay member, is entered in the 200m and the 400m. Ashley Franklin will round out the relay foursome.

Also running for UNLV will be Crowe-Carter in the 800m and Erin Morris in the 100m hurdles.

In the field, Myshauna Alexander - the 2013 Mountain West champion in the javelin - and Taylar Mills will compete in the javelin and triple jump, respectively.
