LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's tennis team pushed itself back over the .500 mark this season with a 5-2 victory over Marquette on a breezy but sunny Tuesday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

The Lady Rebels improved to 6-5 overall while the Golden Eagles fell to 6-5.

The hosts took a 1-0 lead by capturing two of three doubles matches. Lucia Batta and Santa Shumilina downed Laia Hernandez Soler and Ali Dawson 8-2 at the top spot while Iren Kotseva and Aleksandra Josifoska took a tiebreaker over Aleeza Kanner and Ana Pimienta to win 8-7 on court three.

In singles, No. 51 Batta eased by Ana Pimienta 6-2, 6-1 at the top position; Josifoska defeated Ali Dawon 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2; Shumilina got by Vanessa Foltinger 6-3, 7-5 at No. 4; and Paola Artiga finished off Rocio Diaz 6-1, 6-4 on court six.

Next up, UNLV will host Ohio State on Wednesday. Doubles begin at 10 a.m. and admission is free of charge.
