LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's tennis team snapped a seven-match losing skid with a 4-3 victory over Ball Sate on Saturday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
The Rebels improved to 5-7 on the year while the Cardinals fell to 7-8.
UNLV was forced to come from behind as Ball State won the doubles point with wins on two of three courts. The Rebels' lone victory came on court one where Denys Pume and Ace Matias downed Austin Smith and Ray Leonard 8-4.
In singles, UNLV got two wins at the top and two at the bottom of the lineup.
Matias swept Patrick Elliott 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1; Pume won by the same score over Leonard at No. 2; Dimitar Petrov got by Shashank Nautiyal 6-3, 7-5 at No. 4; and Jakob Amilon eased by Andrew Stutz 6-2, 6-1 on court six.
Next up, UNLV will host a doubleheader on Sunday beginning with Marquette at 10 a.m., followed by a match with North Dakota at approximately 3 p.m. Admission is free of charge.
