LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Facing a lineup full of ranked players, the 65th-ranked UNLV women's tennis team did not take a set vs. No. 17 Michigan in a 7-0 loss to the Big Ten Conference power Wednesday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
In what was the first meeting between the schools in women's tennis, the Wolverines began the morning by taking a 1-0 lead after winning two doubles matches. In singles, the battle at the top spot in the lineup saw No. 13 Emina Betkas sweep Rebel star Lucia Batta, ranked 46th, 6-2 6-2 as part of six straight-setters.
UNLV fell to 5-5 on the season while Michigan improved to 7-2.
Next up, UNLV will host Marquette on Tuesday. Doubles begin at 10 a.m. and admission is free of charge.
