LARAMIE, Wyo. (UNLVRebels.com) - With the completion of 14 women's events Saturday, the 2014 Mountain West Outdoor Championships came to a close at the University of Wyoming's Louis S. Madrid Sports Complex. UNLV finished seventh overall (59 points) after it recorded 47 points on the fourth and final day of the conference meet. The Rebels were led by a win in the 800m by Auzsane Crowe-Carter, who set a new stadium record with a time of 2:08.76. In all, the Scarlet & Gray had 11 top-eight finishes Saturday.

Crowe-Carter's triumph is the second Rebel in three years to win the 800m. Former track & field alumna Kelsey Williamson won the event at the 2012 meet.

San Diego State won its second consecutive league title with 144 points, while New Mexico followed in second place with 124 points. Colorado State (94.50 points), Wyoming (94), Boise State (90.50) and Utah State (78) rounded out the six squads ahead of UNLV. Fresno State (56), Nevada, Reno (47) and Air Force (31) placed eighth through 10th, respectively.

Besides winning the 800m, Crowe-Carter helped the 4x400m relay to a third-place finish in 3:43.06. She anchored a foursome comprised of Mandy Chitwood, Alva Castillo and Noela Estrada.

Both Castillo and Estrada performed well earlier in the day in the 400m and 400m hurdles, respectively. The former finished fifth overall in the 400m (56.15) and the latter was seventh in the 400m hurdles (1:04.3).

The 4x100m relay (45.57) took third with a time of 45.57. Two of its members placed in a pair of events as individuals. Kenia Bonilla was fourth in the 100m (11.94 personal best) and seventh in the 200m (24.39), while Erin Morris was third in the 100m hurdles (13.54) and eighth in the 100m (12.00). Bonilla and Morris were joined by Ashley Franklin and Amber Sanford in the relay.

Off the track, Taylar Mills was sixth in the triple jump (39-1.75/11.93m) and Kylee Vandenberg was seventh in the javelin (139-5/42.50 PB).

Coupled with UNLV's higher finish at the track & field meet and the sweep of UNR in baseball this weekend, the Scarlet & Gray has upped its overall lead in the 2014 Governor's Series presented by NV Energy and sponsored by Barrick Gold to 12 points (30.0 to 18.0).
