Oct. 14, 2015 LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV men's soccer goalkeeper Richard Garness has been named the Outstanding Rebel of the Week presented by Air Force Reserve, the school announced Wednesday.

The new award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition, as voted on by the UNLV communications department.

Garness recorded a career-high eight saves on the way to helping the Rebels post a 1-0 shutout at San Jose State on Oct. 9. That was followed by an Oct. 11 game at CSU Bakersfield, in which he faced 11 shots and allowed one goal over 110 minutes in the 1-1 double-overtime tie. He also finished with four saves against the Roadrunners.

Garness was also named the WAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
