2015 Mountain West Championships: Women's 6K Results

RENO, Nev. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV cross country team finished 10th overall with a team score of 299 points at the 2015 Mountain West Championships Friday morning at the Montrêux Golf and Country Club. Sara Williams was the first Rebel to cross the finish line in a time of 25:16.48, and in 46th place.

The remaining Rebel contingent of Nikki Regalado (64th, 26:19.99), Rebecca Hobby (68th, 26:38.13), Auzsane Crowe-Carter (69th, 26:39.33), Angela Ziff (73rd, 26:57.52), Spencer Moore (75th, 27:00.34) and Brooke Cassar (79th, 27:44.53) finished between 64th and 79th at the Conference meet.

"We gave what we had today," said cross country head coach Jebreh Harris. "Sara Williams ran tough as always and was out top finisher. Unfortunately, Spencer is under the weather at the moment and she did the best she could today. The team went into the race with the right mindset and we were ready to race. The truth of the matter of racing at altitude and at a very tough course played a factor. Regardless of placing at the meet, we gave what we had for the day. We are in good fitness and the season is not over. We have West Regionals in two weeks in Seattle to gear up for."

The New Mexico Lobos, who are ranked first in the USTFCCCA National Poll, claimed their eighth straight team title in a total time of 1:52.58.74 and 24 points. The Lobos were led to victory behind their five runners placing between second and seventh.

The ninth-ranked Boise State Broncos (71 points) finished second for the third straight year, but had one of their own come in first in the individual standings, once again. Following in two-time champion Emma Bates' footsteps, Allie Ostrander ran a time of 21:49.97 for the 2015 championship.

Rounding out the meet was Air Force in third (98), while Colorado State (fourth, 106), Wyoming (fifth, 129), Utah State (sixth, 144), Nevada, Reno (seventh, 149), San Jose State (eighth, 218), San Diego State (ninth, 267), UNLV (10th, 299) and Fresno State (11th, 312).
