Oct. 7, 2015 LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV football player
Ryan McAleenan has been named the Outstanding Rebel of the Week presented by Air Force Reserve, the school announced Wednesday.
The new award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition, as voted on by the UNLV communications department.
McAleenan, out of Glendale, Calif., is a former transfer from College of the Canyons. The second-year starter turned in the biggest play of the game for UNLV with a 52-yard interception return for a touchdown to give the Rebels a 20-10 lead in the fourth quarter. He also added six total tackles and a shared quarterback sack with
Torry McTyer that led to a Wolf Pack punt.
McAleenan is the first Rebel to win Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week since 2012.
