Ike Nwamu has been named the Outstanding Rebel of the Week presented by Air Force Reserve, the school announced Wednesday.
The new award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition, as voted on by the UNLV communications department.
Nwamu scored a game-high 19 points in UNLV's second top-15 victory of the season -- an 80-69 neutral-court victory over No. 15/16 Oregon at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas last Friday. He was 7 of 9 from the field against the Ducks, including 5 of 7 from 3-point range. His 19 points and five made 3-pointers are both season highs. Nwamu sealed the game by sinking a deep 3-pointer from the top with 1:25 remaining. He was 4 of 5 from long distance in the first half, scoring 14 points in 12 minutes.
Nwamu was also named the Mountain West Men's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday.
