March 11, 2015 LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV baseball head coach Tim Chambers is out with a back ailment and will undergo back surgery this week which will force him to miss some time during the 2015 season, UNLV Athletics Director Tina Kunzer-Murphy announced today.
Chambers, who is the reigning Mountain West Coach of the Year, will return to the head of the program later this season. He has had a history of back issues and underwent surgery following the 2012 season.

Stan Stolte will serve as the interim head coach and assistant coach
Kevin Higgins will take over Chambers' responsibilities as the third base coach when the Rebels are batting in the Manager's absence.
Chambers is in his fifth season as the head coach of the UNLV baseball program. In his time, he has led the Rebels to a record of 139-108, a Mountain West Regular Season Championship and a NCAA tournament appearance, both in 2014. He became the fastest to 100 wins at UNLV and a total of 11 players have been drafted by MLB teams, including
Erick Fedde, who became the third first-round draft pick in school history as he was selected as the 18th overall pick in the 2014 MLB First-Year Player Draft by the Washington Nationals.
