LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's tennis team dropped its fifth straight match, this time 5-2 to No. 58 Columbia on Saturday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
The Rebels dropped to 5-11 on the year while the Lions improved to 8-5.
In the morning, Columbia won both completed doubles matches to earn a 1-0 lead.
Moving to singles, the Ivy Leaguers clinched it with pairs of victories on the top and bottom of the lineup. UNLV scored its two points in the middle as Iren Kotseva won a super-tiebreaker over Rima Asatrian at the third position, 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (10-7); and Paola Artiga rallied past Alexandra Solovyev at No. 4, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4.
UNLV will return to the courts on Thursday when its hosts Eastern Washington, starting with doubles at 10 a.m. Admission is free of charge.
