LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV women's tennis team downed UC Riverside 6-1 Saturday after losing a 4-3 match to Northern Arizona earlier in the day at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
After the split, the Rebels' record now stands at 5-6 overall.
Against NAU in the early match, UNLV took a 1-0 lead after winning both completed doubles matches. Artiga and Shumilina downed Emelia Box and Hailey Rochin 6-2 at the second position while Kotseva and Garrett won by the same score on court three over Livi Hollosy and Jordan Denesik.
The Lumberjacks, however, swept the top three matches in singles en route to rallying for the win. UNLV's only points came from Artiga at No. 4, 6-2, 6-4 over Marta Lewandowska; and Lopez Valez at No. 5, 6-2, 6-2 over Hollosy.
The Rebels are next in action on Wednesday when they host Penn starting with doubles play at 10 a.m. Admission is free of charge.
