April 17, 2015 LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) -- UNLV baseball received a signed national letter of intent from Chase Maddux on Wednesday, head coach Tim Chambers announced. Maddux will be eligible for the 2015-16 season.
"We are excited to sign to another local kid who I believe will mature in the next few years, both physically and mentally," head coach Tim Chambers said. "He comes in with a great baseball pedigree and has been around the game all of his life. His athletic potential is very high and he is a great student. We are very happy to welcome Chase to the UNLV family."
Maddux, who is the son of Hall of Famer Greg Maddux, currently has 3-1 record for Bishop Gorman High School to go with a 4.11 ERA this season. He has struck out 12 and has walked only two in 15.1 innings of work and has helped the team to a 17-2 record. As a junior he sported a 1-0 record with a 1.70 ERA and helped the Gaels to a 27-6 overall record and a second place finish in the Sunset League.
The current senior at Bishop Gorman High School is the only signee of the spring for the Rebels, but joins nine incoming student athletes who inked with UNLV in the fall.
