LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV women's golf senior Dana Finkelstein was named to the 2014-15 Capital One Academic All-District 8 At-Large First Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Finkelstein wrapped up her academic work this week and will graduate with a degree in Kinesiological sciences with a 3.39 GPA. The Chandler, Ariz. native is the first golfer in program history to earn All-District First Team honors. She has also been named to the Academic All-Mountain West team three times in her career.
The all-time winningest player in program history, Finkelstein was named the Mountain West Golfer of the Year for the third consecutive season last month. She has five career wins, including her most recent victory at the NCAA St. George Regional. She led the conference and broke a UNLV record she set last season by posting a scoring average of 71.43 this season.
The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) selects Academic All-America teams in 12 programs throughout the year. Players who are starters or important reserves on their teams and are at least in their second year at a school and hold at least a 3.30 career GPA are eligible for the academic awards, which are voted on by sports information directors from across the nation.
UNLV's district includes four-year institutions from Canada and the states of California, Arizona, Alaska, Hawaii, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Nevada.
