AUSTIN (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV track & field team wrapped up its first day at the NCAA West Preliminary at the University of Texas' Mike A. Myers Stadium. Thursday's festivities started late due to weather delays brought about by rain and lightning around the Lone Star State's capital city.
Auzsane Crowe-Carter was the Rebels' highest finisher with a 27th-place showing in the 800m. Crowe-Carter, a two-time Mountain West champion in the event, ran a time of 2:10.39.
Krystal Wharton (Las Vegas/Valley HS) concluded the second heat of the long jump in 12th place behind a jump of 19-4.25 (5.90m). Once the third heat began, Wharton dropped from her spot and finished 32nd overall.
Back on the track, Drea Austin was 42nd in the 100m (11.72), while Joniece Ervin was 43rd in the 400m hurdles (1:02.34).
Cortney Miller (Las Vegas/Calvary Chapel Christian HS) fouled on all three attempts of her hammer throw.
The Scarlet & Gray will have an entrant in Friday's 100m hurdles (5:00 pm CT/3:00 pm PT) and the 200m (8:00 pm CT/6:00 pm PT).
