STILLWATER, Okla. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's tennis team faced a big challenge to open its 2016 dual-match opener and was shut out at No. 28 Oklahoma State at the Greenwood Tennis Center indoor courts Friday.
The powerful Cowboys took a 9-5 lead in the all-time series between the programs by winning both completed doubles matches and then getting through singles play without dropping a set.
Alexandr Cozbinov came the closest to gaining a set for the visitors but fell in a tiebreaker to Temur Ismailov, 6-3, 7-6 (8-6), at the second position.
Next up, the Rebels will stay in Stillwater and face Creighton on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. PT. UNLV will open home play on Feb. 5 against New Mexico State at 10 a.m.
