STILLWATER, Okla. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's tennis team earned its first victory of the young season Saturday, whitewashing Creighton 7-0 in a neutral-site affair at Oklahoma State's Greenwood Tennis Center indoor courts.

The Rebels improved to 1-1 while the Bluejays dropped to 0-2.

UNLV grabbed the doubles point by winning both completed matches. Jakob Amilon and Ruben Alberts downed Alex Koca and Quinn Dippel, 6-1, at the top position while Alexandr Cozbinov and Richard Solberg got by August Nysted and Nick Thompson, 6-3, at No. 2.

In singles play, Amilon downed Koca 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 1 spot; Cozbinov downed Dippel 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2; Alberts defeated Harrison Lang 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3; Solberg fought off Aaron Chalstrom 6-3, 7-5 at No. 4; Evaldo Neto rallied past Brooks Kendall 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5; and Charlie Croxford rolled past Anthony Rauschenbach 6-0, 6-2 at No. 6.

"It was a good effort at all positions today," Hambrook said. "Everyone competed well to get our first win."

Next up, the Rebels will open their home schedule on Feb. 5 against New Mexico State starting at 11 a.m. Admission at the Fertitta Tennis Complex is free of charge.
