Musovski Named Outstanding Rebel of the Week

Nov. 16, 2016
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV Men's soccer junior Danny Musovski has been named the Outstanding Rebel of the Week presented by Air Force Reserve, the school announced Wednesday.

The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition from Monday through Sunday as voted on by the UNLV Athletic Communications department.

Musovski, a junior from Liberty High School in Henderson, came up huge in helping the fourth-seeded Rebels win three-straight games to capture the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men's Soccer Tournament Championship, earning the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. UNLV's star forward garnered WAC Tournament MVP honors for the second time in three years after scoring two goals and recording two assists in three games, with both goals coming in the 2-1 win over Air Force in the title game. In the first round game against UTRGV, Musovski assisted on the Rebels' second goal in an eventual 3-2 win, then followed that performance with an assist on the game-winner in UNLV's upset of No. 23 and top-seed Utah Valley on its home field in the semifinals. In the championship, his first goal put the Rebels up 1-0, while his game-winner came 63 seconds after Air Force tied the game at one, leading UNLV to its seventh NCAA tournament appearance in program history. Musovski ranks eighth nationally in points per game (1.67) and is tied for ninth in the nation in goals per game (0.67).

The Rebels will travel to San Diego State for an NCAA Tournament First Round game on Thursday, Nov. 17. Kick off is set for 7 p.m. at SDSU Sports Deck.
