LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV Women's Golf has added a second golfer to its 2017 class as Yang Liu of Chengdu, China, signed her national of letter of intent to play for the Rebels next year, announced by head coach Amy Bush-Herzer on Wednesday. Liu joins German native Polly Mack, a recent German National Team selection, who officially committed to the Rebels on Tuesday.
Liu has played in several tournaments in the United States and brings a wealth of experience playing on different types of golf courses all over the world. She won the first American Junior Golf Association she ever played in, placing first at the AJGA Tangelwood Junior All Star Tournament. She's also played in two USGA Girls' Juniors tournaments and finished as the runner up at the Future Champions World Championships. Liu attends Léman International School in Chengdu, China.
Bush-Herzer is excited to add a second international golfer to next year's class. "We're really looking forward to having Yang as a member of the Rebel Golf family," said Bush. "Her experience playing in the United States and internationally on many different types of golf courses adds a great element to our team. We are excited for her to get here next year."
Liu and Mack are the eighth and ninth international players Bush-Herzer has signed in her seven years at the helm of the Rebels. There are two international players on the current roster, sophomores Elizabeth Prior (Surrey, England) and Alyssa Getty (Ruthven, ON, Canada).
UNLV finished its fall slate Nov. 7 in Dallas and will return to tournament action in February.
