LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV Men's tennis team had a stout performance on Friday after whitewashing Hawai'i 7-0 at the Fertitta Tennis Complex. Following the match Head Coach Owen Hambrook had this to say, "There was great energy today. Big thanks to former Rebel great Tim Blenkiron and his Academy for coming out to support the team."

The Rebels improved to 5-2 while the Rainbow Warriors fell to 1-7.

UNLV won in doubles to secure the team point. Jakob Amilon and Ruben Alberts defeated Felix Albert and Marcel Chan 6-3 at the number one spot while Evaldo Neto and Adam Gage-Brown downed Igor Kolaric and Spencer Travalino 6-2 at the third position.

In singles, the hosts swept all six matches, including one that went to a tiebreaker.

Amilon defeated Albert 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1; Cozbinov downed Chan 6-3,6-4 at No. 2; Gage-Brown outlasted Kolaric 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (10-8) at No. 3; Alberts rolled past Joakim Pinola 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4; Richard Solberg defeated Nikolai Storch 6-1, 6-4 at No. 5; and Charlie Croxford beat Ruben Blattner 7-5, 6-0.

The Rebels will be back on the courts Sunday when they host Loyola Marymount at the Fertitta Tennis Complex. Doubles play will begin at 11 a.m. and admission is free of charge.
