LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The No. 75 ranked UNLV women's tennis team blanked Cal State Northridge 7-0 Friday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

The Rebels improved to 8-0 while the Matadors fell to 3-6.

In the win over the Matadors, the hosts won two of three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead. Carol Zi Yang and Aiwen Zhu downed Mickey Hsu and Kristen Poei 7-5 at the top position while Iren Kotseva and Paola Artiga downed Ki Kim and Mari Taslagyan 7-6 at the third spot.

In singles, UNLV swept on courts 1-6. Zhu finished off Hsu 6-3, 7-5 at No. 1; Yang downed Vivin Lin 6-2, 7-5 at No. 2; Artiga downed Poei 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3; Anna Bogoslavets rallied past Skyla Alcon 6-0, 4-6, 6-2 at No. 4; Kotseva beat Kim 7-5, 7-6 at No. 5; and Mercedes Lopez won 6-3, 6-2 against Taslagyan on court six.

UNLV will return to action at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on Sunday when it hosts its first conference contest against Colorado State, starting with doubles play at 10 a.m. Admission to all UNLV home matches is free of charge.
