April 6, 2016 LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV baseball's Kyle Isbel has been named the Outstanding Rebel of the Week presented by Air Force Reserve, the school announced Wednesday.
The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition, as voted on by the UNLV communications department.
Isbel went 11-for-20 at the plate for a .550 batting average from the leadoff spot in this past week of competition. He scattered eight singles, two doubles and one triple, which helped him notch .750 and .625 on-base percentages. He had three multiple-hit affairs, knocked in seven RBI & scored five runs and stole two bases. Against No. 22 Texas Tech he combined to hit 7-for-8 and reached base safely in eight straight plate appearances (included two walks) and in nine of 10. In game one against the Red Raiders he went 5-for-5 in game one with four RBI and two runs scored. In game two he went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run scored. Against New Mexico he went 4-for-12 with one RBI and two runs scored.
