2016 UNLV Baseball Weekly Notes: MW Championship (Air Force)

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV Rebels closed out the regular season this past weekend in the northern portion of the Silver State against the Nevada, Reno Wolf Pack. UNLV won the first game of the three-game series, and that victory not only sealed its fourth-place finish in the Mountain West standings, but it spoiled UNR's chances of claiming a share of the Conference title.

By virtue of their finish, the Rebels will enter this week's MW Baseball Championship as the fourth seed. The Scarlet & Gray begins play Wednesday against the Air Force Falcons, the tournament's fifth seed, at 3:00 pm MT (2:00 pm PT) Wednesday afternoon. That contest will follow the "play-in" game (11:00 am MT/10:00 am PT) between No. 6 San Diego State and No. 7 San Jose State. The winner of that affair will assume a spot in the tournament and play No. 3 Nevada, Reno at 7:00 pm MT (6:00 pm PT).

Both No. 1 Fresno State and No. 2 New Mexico are off Wednesday due to their 1-2 finish in league play. FS and UNM will see their first action Thursday.
