Rebels Add Nine More For 2016-17 Seasons

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV track & field and cross country programs have received signed national letters of intent from nine more student-athletes -- Madison Aldred, Yamilet Biggers, Hannah Davis, Taylor Forte, Najia Hudspeth, Nylia Hudspeth, Tenia Landrum, Rebeca Morales and Jaela Williams, head coach Yvonne Wade announced.

The aforementioned nine will join four other newcomers -- Kennedy Allen, Alexis MacArthur, Caitlin Amburgey and Kaysha Love -- that signed with the program in December 2015.

Aldred is a graduate of Arbor View High School in Las Vegas. She was the Mt. SAC Relays High School Invitational Champion in the 400m with a personal-best time of 55.08 - a time that was the fasted by a Nevadan. She also has clocked a personal-best time of 24.86 in the 200m

Biggers graduated from Buchanan High School in Clovis, Calif. She helped the 4x100m relay to a fourth-place showing at the state meet. She clocked personal-best times of 56.95 in the 400m and 24.96 in the 200m.

Davis graduated from Vacaville High School in Vacaville, Calif. She was a finalist in the 300m hurdles - sixth place (42.87) at the CIF California State Championships. She took second in the event at the CIF California State Prelims with a personal-best time of 42.73.

Forte is a graduate of McQueen High School in Reno, Nev. She finished third at the 2016 NIAA Division I State Championships in the discus. She also competed in the javelin and hammer throw. Owns a personal-best distance of 141.6 feet in the discus.

Hudspeth competed at Cerritos College in Norwalk, Calif., after graduating from Kennedy High School. She finished first in both the 200m and 4x100m relay at the South Coast Conference and California Community College State Championships. Additionally, she took the top spot in the SCC 100m. She owns top times of 11.63 in the 100m, 23.67 in the 200m and 55.19 in the 400m.

Hudspeth comes to UNLV via Cerritos College in Norwalk, Calif. The Kennedy High School graduate claimed first place in the 4x100m relay at both the Southern California Conference and California Community College State Championships. She took third in the 400m (56.17) at the California Community College State Championship. She owns personal-best times of 55.75 in the 400m and 24.84 in the 200m.

Landrum graduated from Castro Valley High School in Castro Valley, Calif. She owns a personal-best measurement of 18-8.75 (5.70m) in the long jump. She was a CIF-NCA champion as well as two-time state qualifer and a First Team All-East Bay selection.

Morales transfers to UNLV after competing at Riverside City College the past two years. The Riverside Polytechnic High School graduate owns personal-best times of 2:11.59 in the 800m and 4:38.88 in the 1500m. She was the runner-up in the 800m at the CCCAA State meet and a fourth-place finisher in the 1500m.

Williams comes to Las Vegas following a year at the University of Arkansas. The Sierra, Calif., native graduated from Serra Gardena High School where she was the Golden State's top hurdler in the 55m and second-best 60m for two straight years (2014-15). She clocked a personal-best time of 13.63 in the 100m hurdles and owns a top measurement of 18-9.25 (5.72m) - both figures were in California State Championships competition.

Allen, who hails from Portland, Ore., and attended David Douglas High School is a two-time district champion in cross country and an all-state first team honoree. Her personal bests in the 3K (track) is 10:17.30 and 5K (XC) is 18:13.

Amburgey was tabbed the 2015 Top Nevada Senior in cross country after she earned league and regional championship titles at Damonte Ranch High School in Reno. She was the state runner-up in the 1600m and fourth-place finisher in the state's cross country meet. She ran a personal-best time of 18:54 in the 5K (XC) while also clocking times of 5:11.93 and 2:18.43 in the 1600m and 800m, respectively.

Love, a graduate of Herriman High School in Herriman, Utah, was named the 2015-16 Gatorade Utah Track & Field Athlete of the Year. She won a total of 16 Utah State championships, including the 100m and 200m for three straight years (2013-15). She owns personal-best marks of 11.63w (11.68 - a state record in the 100m and 24.11 in the 200m. She has also registered a high jump measurement of 5-9.25 (1.75m). She ran a time of 7.53 to earn Simplot Games Silver Medalist honors.

MacArthur will come to UNLV from Orem High School in Orem, Utah. She is a two-time regional champion in the 1600m and 3200m. She owns personal-best times of 5:07.64 in the 1600m (track) and 11:09.35 in the 3200m (track) and 17:44 in the 3-mile (XC).
