LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's tennis team posted a strong home opener to start a doubleheader by downing New Mexico State 4-0 on Friday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

The Rebels improved to 1-0 while the Aggies fell to 1-1.

UNLV won two doubles matches to secure the team point. Jakob Amilon and Evaldo Neto downed Chris Goncalves and Luis Pliego Flores 6-3 at the top position while Ruben Alberts and Courtney Lock defeated Stijn de Haan and Mauri Benitez 7-6 (4) at the second spot.

In singles, the hosts swept three matches. Amilon beat Goncalves 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1; Cozbinov defeated Flores 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2; Alberts outlasted Sergi Espias 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3.

The Rebels are right back on the courts later today when they host Weber State starting with doubles play at 2 p.m. Admission to all UNLV home matches is free of charge.
