LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's tennis team (8-2) won both games of a doubleheader with 4-1 scores to BYU and Northern Arizona at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

In the morning affaire, the Rebels took down the Cougars 4-1, dropping BYU's overall record to 9-8.

"It was a long day on the courts today," said head coach Owen Hambrook. "The guys played solid doubles vs BYU and then closed them out in singles."

UNLV won two out of three doubles matches to secure the team point. Evaldo Neto and Jakob Amilon defeated Jeremy Bourgeois 6-1 at No. 1, while Courtney Lock and Ruben Alberts downed Keaton Cullimore and John Pearce 6-1 on court two.

In singles, the Rebels won three matches to capture the win. Jakob Amilon edged by Cullimore 7-6(1), 6-2 at No. 1; Alberts downed Matthew Pearce 6-4, 6-3 at No. 3; and Evaldo Neto finished off Bourgeois 6-2, 7-5 on court five.

The afternoon slate saw the Scarlet & Gray take down the Lumberjacks 4-1, dropping their record to 5-5.

"Northern Arizona is much improved and the guys took care of business in the afternoon," said Hambrook.

UNLV won two out of three doubles matches to secure the team point. Neto and Amilon won their second doubles match of the day by defeating Lucas Taylor and Sebastian Eguez 6-4 at No. 1, while Solberg Adam Gage-Brown edged out Felix Schumann and Thomas Fisher 7-5 on court three.

In singles, the hosts recorded three wins to take the win. Amilon captured his second singles win of the day by defeating Tim Handel 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1; Alberts too won his second singles contest of the day edging by Felix Schumann 6-3, 7-6(1) at No. 3; and Solberg finished off Thomas Fisher 6-4, 6-2 on court six.

Next up, the Rebels are set to play against Oklahoma State on Friday, March 17 starting with doubles at 11 a.m. PT at the Fertitta Tennis Complex. Admission to all UNLV home matches is free of charge.
