Pilgrim Named Outstanding Rebel of the Week

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV Track & Field senior Kaysee Pilgrim has been named the Outstanding Rebel of the Week presented by Air Force Reserve, the school announced Wednesday. This is the second time in the last three weeks Pilgrim has earned the honor.

The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition from Monday through Sunday as voted on by the UNLV Athletic Communications department.

Pilgrim, a Phoenix, Ariz., native, helped the UNLV track & field team finish third at the Mountain West Outdoor Championships last weekend in Logan, Utah, with a first-place finish in the high jump. Her mark of 6-2.75/1.90m not only rewrote her own UNLV outdoor record she set two weeks ago, but set both a new Mountain West overall and Mountain West Championship all-time best mark in the event as well. Her first-place jump is also the top mark in the country during the 2017 outdoor season. Her performance earned her a spot on the All-Mountain West Track & Field Team and has helped the Rebels move up to 25th in the country in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's Outdoor Team Computer Rankings.

Pilgrim is set to compete in the West Preliminaries in Austin, Texas, May 25-27.
