LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The No. 12 UNLV men's golf team will return to action this weekend as it competes at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate at the UNM Championship South Course (par 72, 7,556 yards) in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The two-day, 54-hole stroke-play tournament hosted by New Mexico, will have two rounds (36 holes) on Friday, Sept. 22 and will conclude with a final round of 18 holes on Saturday, Sept. 23. Play is set to begin both days at 7:45 a.m. MT.
The lineup for the Rebels will include senior Shintaro Ban, junior Harry Hall, freshman Jack Trent and sophomore Justin Kim. Sophomore Yash Majmudar and freshman J.J. Gresco will also be competing, but it is not yet decided which one will play for the team and which will play as an individual.
This will be the third tournament of the season for the Rebels. They opened with a fourth-place finish at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational in Colorado, then placed seventh at the tough Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational in Illinois. That tournament featured 10 of the nation's top 20 teams.
The Tucker Intercollegiate will have a field of 17 teams: Arizona, BYU, Cal State Fullerton, Colorado, Colorado State, Denver, Louisiana Tech, Nevada, Reno, New Mexico, New Mexico State, UNLV, UT Arlington, UTEP, San Diego, San Diego State, Washington and Washington State.
Live scoring will be available courtesy of Golfstat with a link found at UNLVRebels.com or by clicking here.
San Diego State is the defending Tucker team champion as the Aztecs recorded a 10-shot victory last year with a score of 1-under 863. New Mexico had won the previous four team titles.
UNLV placed seventh at last year's tournament at 20-over. Ban was UNLV's top finisher at that event with a tie for third place at 2-under, four shots back of the individual medalist (Colorado State's Blake Cannon).
