LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV women's golf turned in its best team round of the spring in the second round of the Jackrabbit Invitational at Boulder Creek Golf Club, shooting a 5-under 283 Monday afternoon. The Rebels ended the day atop the leaderboard at 3-under 573 and will enter Tuesday's final round with 35 shot lead and a chance to win their second tournament in the last three weeks - both in Las Vegas.
All eight of the Rebels competing in the tournament finished the day in the top-10, led by freshman Polly Mack, who sits alone in first place after carding her second-lowest round as a Rebel with a 68 in round two. She will head into Tuesday at 3-under (141) with a one shot lead over South Dakota State's Teresa Toscano at 2-under (142). Senior Mackenzie Raim is just two shots off Mack's lead at 1-under (143), while Nastasia Kossacky sits just one shot behind Raim at even (144). Junior Alyssa Getty and senior Texie June Petchel, both playing as individuals, ended the day in fifth and sixth after carding scores of 2-over (146) and 3-over (147), respectively. Junior Elizabeth Prior shot a 4-over to sit in a tie for seventh, followed by freshman Cathy Liu in ninth at 6-over (150) and junior Shannon Oh at 7-over (151) in a tie for 10th.
Coming in behind the Rebels was tournament host South Dakota State, who finished day one at 35-over (608). North Dakota State is one shot behind the Jackrabbits at 36-over (609), followed by Northern Iowa (+45, 621) and Rocky Mountain College (+47, 623) to round out the top five.
