Rebel Netters Double Up Cal Poly

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's tennis team hit the double-figure mark in victories this season with a 4-2 win over Cal Poly on a perfect March Wednesday evening at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.
The Rebels improved to 10-7 overall and 9-3 at home while the Mustangs of the Big West Conference fell to 12-5.
The hosts opened by taking a key doubles session as the Rebels won on courts one and three.
Moving to singles play, UNLV got a quick victory at the top of the lineup when No. 85 Alexandr Cozbinov rolled past Josh Ortlip 6-3, 6-1. After Jordan Sauer's straight-set win on court six, the Rebels eventually led 3-2 when Richard "The Closer" Solberg lived up to his name with a 6-4, 6-4 clincher over Alexander Stater on court five.
REBEL OF THE MATCH: Cozbinov teamed with Courtney Lock in doubles for a 6-2 win and then breezed in singles to improve to 12-3 in duals as a senior.
NET NOTE: Cal Poly came into the match sporting a six-match winning streak.
QUOTABLE: "It was a good to be back home and the guys came out and played a solid doubles point. Singles turned into a battle on every court against a talented and feisty team but we got it done."

NEXT FOR THE REBELS: UNLV will return to Mountain West play with a road trip to Boise State. The two teams will square off Sunday starting at noon PT.
