No. 25 Rebels Third After Two Rounds At Jackrabbit Invitational

BOULDER CITY, Nev. (UNLVRebels.com) - The No. 25 UNLV men's golf team shot two rounds of 5-under 283 on Friday and is in third place after 36 holes at the Jackrabbit Invitational, which is being played at Boulder Creek Golf Club (par 72, 7402 yards).
UNR holds the team lead at 14-under 562, followed by UCLA in second at 12-under. The Rebels are four shots off the lead at 10-under.
Individually, three Rebels are among the top 10. Senior Shintaro Ban and freshman Jack Trent are bot tied for third at 5-under 139, while freshman Garrick Higgo is tied for 10th at 1-under. UNR's Grant Booth is the individual leader by a shot at 9-under.
STAT OF THE DAY: UNLV is one of just four teams under par. Weber State, the fifth-place team is 10-over.
REBELS OF THE DAY: Ban had 12 birdies over his 36 holes on Friday, while Trent recorded two eagles and eight birdies. Ban was 5-under during the first round, while Trent shot a second-round 6-under.

REBEL NOTES:
• UNLV has started its spring season with finishes of tied for second, first and fourth. This is the Rebels' fourth event of the spring.
• UNLV players have won each of the last three Mountain West Men's Golfer of the Week awards: Ban (2), Hall (1).
• Last season, UNLV won the Mountain West Championship for the second straight year, captured an NCAA Regional title and advanced to the 'Elite Eight' at the NCAA Championship.
• Ban and Hall are both 2017 All-Mountain West Team honorees, and Ban earned honorable mention All-America. In addition, Ban was named an All-America Scholar.
• This year, Ban (U.S.) and Hall (international) are candidates to play in the Arnold Palmer Cup. Ban is on the watch lists for the Hogan and Haskins Awards, which go to the nation's top collegiate golfer.
• UNLV has an active NCAA record of 29 consecutive regional appearances.
• This season marks the 31st at UNLV for Hall of Fame head coach Dwaine Knight.
