Rebel Duo Earns Midseason Accolades

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV baseball's Kyle Isbel and Bryson Stott's were named to the Midseason Perfect Game/Rawlings College Baseball All-American First and Second Teams, respectively, Tuesday.

Isbel, a junior from Fontana, California (Etiwanda High School), sits within the top 100 of 13 different NCAA statistical categories, including No. 3 in total bases (91) and No. 4 in hits (49). Additionally, he sits No. 13 in runs (34), No. 17 in slugging percentage (.722), No. 18 home runs (nine), No. 19 in RBI (35).

Stott, a sophomore out of Desert Oasis High School, leads the nation in hits (52) and ranks No. 2 in doubles (16), No. 8 in runs (35), No. 12 in total bases (81). In all, he is in the top 100 of 12 statistical categories.

The duo, who has started all 30 games this season with Isbel in center field and Stott at shortstop, sits first and second on the team in batting average, at-bats, runs, hits, triples, total bases, on-base percentage and stolen bases.

With their help, UNLV is 22-8 on the year and is ranked No. 26 in this week's National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Poll. Moreover, the Rebels, as a team, rank as high as No. 3 in the NCAA in hits (343) and doubles (77) as well as No. 5 in slugging percentage (.506) and No. 6 in batting average (.317). The team is also No. 11 in runs (230), No. 12 in both home runs (37) and scoring (7.7 runs per game).

UP NEXT: UNLV and Grand Canyon close out the two-game, nonconference series Wednesday at 2:00 pm. The Rebels will then travel across the country to West Virginia to face the Mountaineers Friday through Sunday.

BACK AT EARL E.: UNLV returns to Las Vegas and Earl E. Wilson Stadium on April 10 (6:05 pm) against the Arizona State Sun Devils. The day is a $2 Tuesday with $2 hot dogs, $2 sodas and $2 off beer. Also, the first 250 fans will receive a collector's coin, which is the first of three this season -- with other coins handed out on April 14 and May 11.

SINGLE-GAME TICKETS: Fans can purchase single-game tickets online and in-advance for only $5; however, they must be purchased through UNLVTickets.com three hours prior to first pitch. Single-game tickets for the 12 remaining home games are priced at $8 for adults, $6 for senior/faculty/staff and $4 for groups of 15 or more. As always, UNLV students (with Rebel Card) and kids 12 and under are always free.
