LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV Baseball posted a program-best 3.30 grade point average during Fall 2018. Additionally, the team's GPA was the highest achieved by UNLV Athletics' male programs.
The Rebels had 16 student-athletes make the Dean's List with four of those –
Jacob Godman,
Donavon McCrystal,
Ryan McDonald and
Ty Pohlmann – recording 4.00 GPAs.
"That high of a GPA in college baseball is rare and I could not be more proud of their efforts in the classroom," said head coach
Stan Stolte. "Great programs take care of business off the field, too, and this shows me the kids are buying in to what we are preaching. Our academic advisor,
Alan Hott, deserves a lot of credit. We accomplished this with no mandatory study halls, which shows the high character of student-athletes that we are brining into our program."
Overall, UNLV student-athletes achieved a record collective GPA of 3.09 during the fall, which surpassed the previous high mark of 3.03 set during Spring 2018. UNLV student-athletes also notched a record for cumulative GPA of 3.05.
In all, UNLV had 146 student-athletes earn Dean's List honors during Fall 2018.
