SALT LAKE CITY (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men and women's swim teams fell to the Utah Utes at the Ute Natatorium Friday evening. The Rebel women lost 189 to 111, while the Rebel men came up short 186 to 108.

REBELS OF THE DAY: 
Women- Julia Filippova the won 200 free.
Men- Panos Bolanos won the 100 and 200 back.

THE RUNDOWN - WOMEN: 
*Sophomore Montse Moreno won the 3 meter (304.43).
*Moreno took third in the 1 meter (256.88).
*Kicking off the first swimming event, Eva Kim, Skylar Moore, Kate Afanasyeva, and Ava Haase took third in the 400 Medley Relay with a swim of 3:55.74.
*Sophomore Filio Raftopoulou took third in the 1000 free (10:29.85).
*Sophomore Julia Filippova touched first in the 200 free with a time of 1:53.18, sophomore Carissa Armijo took third (1:53.64).
*Sophomore Lindsay Swail took second in the 100 back with a swim of 57.00.
*Sophomore Teneka Ash finished second in the 200 fly with a swim of 2:05.89, sophomore Camila Quineche took third (2:09.59).
*Junior Caitlyn Schreiber took third in the 50 free with a time 24.30.
*Filippova took second in the 100 free (52.07).
*Raftopoulou took second in the 200 back (2:04.12), sophomore Kacey Kiuchi took third (2:04.78).
*Moore placed third in the 200 breast with a swim of 2:25.88.
*Armijo touched first in the 500 free with a time of 5:01.24.
*Afanasyeva finished second in the 100 fly (57.26).
*Closing out the meet, Filippova, Kennedy Hood, Schreiber, Kim, grabbed first in the 200 free relay (1:35.27). The team of Haase, Camryn Wheals, Alexia Tayloer-Arredondo, and Kate Afanasyeva took third (1"37.37).

THE RUNDOWN - MEN:
*Junior Jesse Cawley grabbed third on 1-meter (274.35). 
*Cawley took second on 3-meter (322.05).
*The 200 Medley Relay team of Panos Bolanos, Sam Willstrop, Casey McEuen, and Richard Szilagyi took second with a 3:22.63. Hayden Cornellison, Michal Cukanow, Sean Gage, and Bryan Chavez took third (3:23.13).
*Sophomore Ivan Zukov took third in the 1000 free (9:40.77).
*Freshman Ogi Maric touched first in the 200 free with a swim of 1:41.65, senior Hayden Hemmens took second (1:42.13).
*Freshman Panos Bolanos finished first in the 100 back (50.26), followed by sophomore Hayden Cornellison who touched second (50.37).
*Sophomore Michael Klauss took second in the 200 fly with a time of 1:53.59, followed by sophomore Michal Cukanow who finished third (1:55.75).
*Szilgyi took second in 100 free (46.16).
*Bolanos took grabbed his second win of the day in the 200 back (1:51.06) followed by Cornellison who finished second (1:52.01).
*Hemmens took third in the 500 free with a time of 4:40.48.
*Cukanow took third in the 100 fly (51.09).
*Cornellison touched first in the 200 IM with a time of 1:54.49, followed by sophomore Jack Binder who finished third (1:56.81).
*Closing of the last event of the night, the 200 free relay team of Maric, Casey McEuen, Szilagyi, and Sean Gage took second (1:24.13). The team of Jake Keller, Hemmens, Christopher Mykkanen, and Steven Butler took third (1:25.44).

"You never like to give up a win of course, but I was pretty pleased with how we raced today. The team's energy and focus were on point, evidenced by some nice wins in critical events, and also by our ability to routinely score three swimmers in events. We had some holes for sure, and we'll need to patch those up for tomorrow."
