LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV Rebels remain in Las Vegas and continue their longest homestand of the season - nine games - with a three-game, Mountain West series against their intrastate rival, the UNR Wolf Pack, at Earl E. Wilson Stadium. UNLV and UNR will square off Friday and Saturday at 6:05 pm, while Sunday's finale is slated for 1:05 pm.
The Rebels and Wolf Pack enter the weekend, conference series riding identical 6-5, come-from-behind victories at home Tuesday. Each squad rallied in the bottom of the ninth and won in walk-off fashion; UNLV got a two-run double from
Jack-Thomas Wold to cap the four-run rally, while UNR's Jaylon McLaughlin scored off an error after hitting a game-tying RBI triple.
Historically speaking, UNLV and UNR first squared off in 1968 and have played a total of a total of 149 times. The Rebels lead the all-time series 84-65, with four of those victories coming in the last five meeting against the Wolf Pack. The Silver State squads last met in San Diego last year (May 24) at the Mountain West Championship; a game UNLV won 13-8 with help from a five-run ninth inning.

SILVER STATE SERIES: Not only do this weekend's games between the UNLV Rebels and UNR Wolf Pack count towards the Mountain West standings, but they have added significance in the Silver State Series presented by IBEW and Nevada Donor Network. To date, the Rebels leads the all-encompassing athletic and academic competition between the NCAA Division I programs in the state by three points, 13.5 to 10.5.
UNLV and UNR will continue the baseball series with three games in mid-April in Reno. The three-points allotted for the sport could be awarded then or - like last year - it could come down to game(s) played in the MW Championship, which will be held in May in Reno.
Dating back to the 2012-13 academic year, UNLV has beaten UNR five times (2013-16, 2018) and tied once (2017).
STAYIN' HOME: After hosting CSUN and UNR this week, the UNLV Rebels continue their homestand with a two-game, nonconference series against UC Riverside on March 26-27 (Tuesday at 6:05 pm/Wednesday at 2:05 pm) and then jump back into Mountain West play with three against New Mexico on March 29-31 (Friday and Saturday at 6:05 pm/Sunday at 1:05 pm).
During this lengthy stretch, which will span 13 days, the Rebels will square off against two Big West foes (CSUN and UC Riverside) three times as well as six more versus Mountain West competition (UNR and New Mexico).
UNLV is in the midst of playing 15 of 18 at Earl E. from March 5-31; a stretch that started with six straight at home prior to last weekend's road games at San Jose State.
