LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV Rebels swept the Mountain West's weekly awards with
Jack-Thomas Wold and
Ryan Hare named Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for their efforts in the team's 3-1 showing at home last week. This is the second time that Hare's performance on the mound has been recognized by the MW this season, while it's the first weekly accolade for Wold.
Wold paced the Rebels offensively, batting .556 with 10 hits, six RBI and scoring three runs. Six of his hits went for two bases, as the doubles and four singles helped him register a .889 slugging percentage. The sophomore from Henderson (Basic) record at least two hits in all four games, including four against the CSUN Matadors.
In Tuesday's midweek affair with CSUN, Wold went 4-for-5 with three doubles and three RBI. His final hit of the contest – a two-run double – resulted in a walk-off win for the Rebels.
Against UNR, Wold was 6-for-13 with three doubles, three RBI and three runs. In the series opener, he went 2-for-4 and delivered the eventual game-winning hit – an RBI double – in the bottom of the eighth. He concluded the series with four more hits, two runs and one RBI.
Hare picked up his third win of the season in Saturday's 8-5 victory over UNR. The right-hander from Lakewood, California, threw 6.0 innings, striking out four against one run off of two hits and one walk. He began the game retiring the first 11 Wolf Pack batters, and only faced three hitters in four of his six frames of work. Additionally, he only allowed two runners to make their way to third base.
