RENO, Nev. (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV Rebels were on the wrong end of a 16-5 decision to the UNR Wolf Pack Saturday afternoon at Peccole Park. To date, the all-encompassing athletic and academic competition between the state's two NCAA Division I programs sits deadlocked at 13.5 with the inclusion of the women's golf results from the MW Championships. For the sport of baseball, the Rebels and Wolf Pack sit even, 3-3, with the conclusion of their regular-season series. As of now, each team would be awarded 1.5 points; however, they must wait to see if both qualify for the MW Championship in late May and, subsequently, face either other in the conference tournament – similar to last year's tie-breaking showdown in San Diego.
Dating back to the 2012-13 academic year, the Rebels have beaten the Wolf Pack five times (2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2017-18) and tied once (2016-17).
UP NEXT: UNLV hits the road for its second trip to the Valley of the Sun, this time it is for a return engagement to face the No. 12 Arizona State Sun Devils at Phoenix Municipal Stadium Tuesday night. The Rebels defeated the Sun Devils, who were ranked No. 9 at the time, 10-9 in Las Vegas on April 9.
