Junior fails to advance to fourth round Monday morning in Arkansas.
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (UNLVRebels.com)Â - UNLV men's golf junior Justin Kim played in a three-way sudden death playoff Monday morning at the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship, which is being held at Blessings Golf Club (par 72, 7,550 yards).
After the Rebels failed to make the cut to the final 15 teams Sunday, Kim was one of three individuals still alive for the ninth and final individual spot in the fourth round. However, on the first hole (No. 1) Monday morning, South Carolina's Will Miles and Georgia's Trent Phillips both birdied, while Kim was looking at a bogey putt when he was eliminated.Â
Phillips clinched the match on the second playoff hole (No. 18) with a par, while Miles missed a 10-foot par putt which would have extended the playoff.
The individual national champion will be crowned Monday, while there will be another team cut following the fourth round to the eight that will compete in match play.
