Rebel Alum Competes At USTAF Indoors

UNLV track & field alumna Destiny Smith-Barnett finishes sixth overall in the 60m at national meet in Albuquerque.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV track & field alumna Destiny Smith-Barnett finished sixth overall in the Xfinity Women's 60m at the 2020 Toyota USATF Indoor Championships Saturday at the Albuquerque Convention Center.

Smith-Barnett, who exhausted her collegiate eligibility after earning USTFCCCA First Team All-America honors as a redshirt senior during the 2019 indoor season, clocked a time of 7.21 in both the semifinals and final.

"This was my first championship and I feel like I've already earned my seat at the table," said Smith-Barnett. "The race didn't' go as planned, but that's not going to stop me from being the best."

Earlier this month, Smith-Barnett ran a personal-best time of 7.14 at Northern Arizona's Mountain T's Invite (Feb. 1). Her time was .01 seconds faster than the 7.15 which she posted to win the 60m at the 2019 Mountain West Indoor Championships.
